Win hearts with a delightful heart-shaped pizza that’s perfect for date night or any special occasion.
Ingredients (for 2 heart-shaped pizzas):
1 pound pizza dough (store-bought or homemade, divided into 2 portions)
1 cup pizza sauce
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
20-30 pepperoni slices
2-3 garlic cloves, minced
2-3 vine tomatoes, thinly sliced
Olive oil for brushing
Flour for dusting
Optional: fresh parsley or basil leaves for garnish
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 475°F. If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven to preheat as well.
On a lightly floured surface, roll out each portion of the pizza dough into a rough circle, about 10-12 inches in diameter.
To shape the dough into a heart: Using a knife or kitchen scissors, cut a small "V" shape at the top of the circle to create the top of the heart. Gently pull and shape the sides to form the pointed bottom of the heart. Smooth out the edges with your hands.
In a small bowl, combine the minced garlic with 2 tablespoons of olive oil.
If you don't have a pizza stone, lightly oil a baking sheet or line it with parchment paper.
If using a pizza stone, you can transfer the shaped dough onto a piece of parchment paper for easy transfer to the stone.
Brush the edges of the heart-shaped dough lightly with the garlic olive oil mixture.
Spread half of the pizza sauce evenly over each heart, leaving a small border around the edges for the crust.
Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese over each pizza.
Arrange the pepperoni slices over the cheese on each pizza.
Place the vine tomato slices around the pepperoni slices.
Drizzle the remaining garlic olive oil mixture over the top of the pizzas.
Season the tomato slices with a pinch of salt and pepper to taste.
Transfer the pizzas to the preheated oven. If using a pizza stone, carefully slide the parchment paper with the pizza onto the stone.
Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.
Remove the pizzas from the oven and let them cool for a minute or two.
Optionally, garnish with chopped fresh parsley or basil leaves.
Slice and serve your heart-shaped pepperoni pizzas immediately.
Enjoy your charming heart-shaped pizzas with your special someone!
