Thai Pad Kra Pao Pizza

Experience a unique fusion of Thai cuisine and classic pizza with this delicious Pad Kra Pao pizza. Combining the bold, aromatic flavors of Thai basil pork with the comforting taste of pizza, this recipe is sure to impress your taste buds and offer a delightful twist on pizza night.


Ingredients (serves 4):

  • 2 store-bought or homemade pizza doughs
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup ground pork
  • 1 cup cooked ham, diced
  • 4 bird's eye chili peppers, finely chopped (adjust to taste)
  • 1 cup Thai basil leaves, roughly chopped
  • 4 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons fish sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • Sweet chili sauce or Sriracha for drizzling (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 475°F. 
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, add 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Once hot, add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant.
  3. Add the ground pork to the skillet and cook until browned.
  4. Stir in the soy sauce, fish sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, and black pepper. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the pork is well-coated and the sauce has thickened slightly.
  5. Remove from heat and set aside.
  6. Roll out the pizza doughs on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
  7. Transfer the rolled-out doughs to pizza peels or baking sheets lined with parchment paper.
  8. Brush the doughs with the remaining 2 tablespoons of olive oil.
  9. Evenly sprinkle 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese over each dough.
  10. Distribute the cooked ground pork mixture evenly over the cheese on both pizzas.
  11. Add the diced ham and chopped bird's eye chili peppers.
  12. Add the Thai basil leaves to the middle of the pizza.
  13. Carefully transfer the pizzas to the preheated oven.
  14. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the crusts are golden and the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.
  15. Remove the pizzas from the oven and let them cool for a couple of minutes.
  16. Drizzle with sweet chili sauce or Sriracha if desired.
  17. Slice and serve hot.

  7. Break an egg into each pizza
  8. Top with sliced cherry tomatoes and a basil leaf
  9. Place in oven for another 15 mins at 355°F
  10. Garnish with parsley and a pinch of pepper
  11. Serve and enjoy!
