Waffels

A classic treat that can be enjoyed at any time, waffles are perfect for breakfast, brunch, or even dessert.

Ingredients (serve 4):

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 3/4 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil or melted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer's instructions.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, beat the eggs and then add the milk, vegetable oil (or melted butter), and vanilla extract. Mix well.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; it's okay if there are a few lumps.
  5. Lightly grease the waffle iron with cooking spray or a little bit of oil.
  6. Pour the batter onto the preheated waffle iron, using a ladle or measuring cup. The amount of batter will depend on the size of your waffle iron.
  7. Close the waffle iron and cook according to the manufacturer's instructions, usually for about 3-5 minutes, until the waffles are golden brown and crisp.
  8. Carefully remove the waffles and serve immediately with your favorite toppings such as syrup, fresh fruit, whipped cream, or powdered sugar.

Tip: For extra crispy waffles, you can place them on a baking sheet in a single layer and keep them in a warm oven (about 200°F) while you finish cooking the rest of the batter.
