Did you know that you can let butter sit out at room temperature in a butter dish without going bad? Obviously not if your kitchen is particularly warm (ie. 80 degrees in the summer with the windows open), but otherwise, it's safe. Every second counts, and it's always annoying when the butter is too cold to spread properly. You can also find soft butters made with milk cream. Even when stored in the fridge, they stay soft and will be ready for your morning toast.
