Fortezza Medicea, Italy

Getting a table at Fortezza Medicea restaurant might be difficult, but leaving after the meal is over can be even harder. The restaurant  is housed within a 15th Century Italian fortress which today serves as a high-security prison, and everyone, from the chefs to the servers, are real prisoners. Since opening in 2006 as a rehabilitation program for inmates, many of whom are murderers and mob members, it has became a local and global success. To secure a reservation, patrons must pass a background check and several security checkpoints, and book weeks in advance. Visiting hours are open!
