Mighty Wings

McDonald's Mighty Wings launched in 1990 and lasted all the way up until 2003. We're unsure of why they were discontinued in that year, but 10 years later they re-appeared on US menus and were a total failure. The deep-fried, bone-in, spicy chicken wings were deemed a "premium product" by the brand and therefore sold for a hefty average of $1 per wing. Consumers complained about the price for what you get, in addition to the breading being too spicy. Given that they also closely resembled chicken nuggets but with bones, there wasn't really any reason for them to be on the menu. Not to mention nowadays, the wing game is strong across the states.
