Hurricane Maria hit Puerto Rico hard, that hasn't stopped us from keeping it off of our list. Even though the island will take time to recover, the capital city of San Juan still has plenty of amazing experiences to offer. Established by Christopher Columbus in 1493, the former  Spanish colony is rich with history. Wander around Old San Juan before stopping at Castillo San Felipe del Morro, the 16th century citadel. There are numerous places to see and things to do — and you can always take some time during your visit to help out with relief efforts!
