Probably one of the least traditional but more creative restaurants on this list is Memphis's fun and casual Hog & Hominy. Blending Southern influences with Italian dishes might sound odd at first, but here the two go together seamlessly. Among the winning choices are the poutine, made with fries, neckbone gravy, chili oil, and caputo cheese curds; the biscuit gnocchi, which they make with leftover biscuit dough and serve with corn, chanterelles, okra, green tomato and bacon; and The Prewitt pizza, topped with fontina, tomato sauce, boudin and scrambled eggs.
