Clean Meat

Though it's not yet available on the market, so-called "clean meat" is meat made from stem cells, without killing the animal. Within the past 5 years, research and development in this area has quickly grown. In fact, at the end of last year, the world's first lab-grown steak was served. By eliminating the need to slaughter animals for consumption, not only will animal suffering fall significantly, but environmental consequences will as well. This idea is not, however, uncontroversial, as it will have an impact on farmers' incomes—and the meat is still technically derived from animals.
