Au Cheval's burger is the kind of legendary food experience that lives up to the hype. It's certainly not the cheapest option on this list, but you get what you pay for, and then some. Order a double cheeseburger, and it actually comes with three thin beef patties, a fried egg and thick-cut peppery bacon on a toasted bun. Add to that fresh lettuce, house-made buttered pickles and a tangy dijonnaise, and you'll inevitably moan at first bite. Be prepared for a long wait (reservations not accepted), or get there at 10 am opening time, and have your burger for breakfast.
