You have to be okay with eating duck to enjoy the European-influenced delicacies at Duckfat in Portland, Maine. The hand-cut Belgian-style fries are, after all, cooked in duck fat and served in a cone with homemade dipping sauces. The indulgent menu also includes classic Canadian poutine topped with locally sourced cheese curds, duck gravy and chives. Add slow-cooked duck confit for a few dollars more, and save room for the cinnamon-sugar doughnut holes, fried in duck fat (what else?) with a citrus aroma and served with a duck fat caramel dipping sauce.
