Avocado
The star of the 2010s is undoubtedly avocado. The scaly fruit started gaining momentum in the US in the late 2000s, but it really soared this decade. In fact, avocados were so pervasive in the 2010s that they even sparked a dangerous phenomenon. Versatile and delicious, avocados can be used as a vegan butter substitute, a mayonnaise replacement, as a tasty topping for toast; made into guacamole, or simply eaten plain.
Because of our demand for avocado, the market has grown increasingly corrupt, prompting many to speak out for ethical alternatives.
