Fabada Asturiana - Spain
Spain is known for its wide array of comforting tapas, including croquetas, patatas bravas and tortilla espanola. But when you're looking to indulge in something truly rich and comforting, try fabada asturiana, a famed dish of the Asturias region. It's a rich and generous winter stew, made with dried large white beans, cured bacon, black pudding (blood sausage), chorizo and shoulder of pork. Saffron is commonly added for extra depth of flavor. If you're going to try this heavy dish, we recommend eating it for lunch (as the Spanish do), so you've got plenty of time to digest afterward.
