It Rewards Eco-Conscious Shoppers

Even though paper bags are recyclable, Trader Joe's provides shoppers with incentive to bring their own reusable shopping bags. In some locations, they take five cents off the bill for every bag you bring (and use). Other stores reward those who bring their own bags and spend 25$ by entering them in a weekly raffle, with the possibility of winning a $25 store gift card and a Trader Joe's brand shopping bag. Participants have to fill out a form with their name and contact info, and a random winner is drawn each week. You'll know if your location does this, if they keep a chalkboard with the winners' names on it near the cashier.
