Americano

This drink originated during World War II, when American soldiers stationed in Italy mixed hot water with espresso in attempt to recreate drip coffee like they were used to at home. The water diluted the bitterness of espresso shots and eventually became a popular coffee drink named Americano for the homesick American soldiers.
