WHY DECANT WINE?

There are two main reasons to decant wine.

Moritz Bak, Owner and Winemaker of  Res Fortes Wines puts it this way;

"For older wines, generally there is sediment which isn’t great to drink. So it’s important to decant an old bottle of wine before enjoying a meal. Secondly, if you are drinking a younger red wine, all the flavors are all closed, but by adding oxygen through decanting you open up all those aromas and the wine does improve".

Decanting and and allowing a young red wine to "breathe" a little before drinking it can make an amazing difference to the taste.
