Grits

Like many corn dishes in American cuisine, grits can be traced back to the Native Americans—in this case the Muskogee tribe. Grits are perfect for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, and we often eat them alongside a protein for a filling meal. While other countries eat corn-based hot cereals (most notably Italian polenta), grits are quintessentially American.
