Granny Smith

Granny Smith apples are one of the most instantly recognizable apple varieties. Though they can now be found all over, these apples were first discovered in Australia, and are known for their tart flavor and bright green skin. Granny Smiths have a very long shelf life when stored under the right conditions, but if they figure into your fall cooking plans, try dehydrating them into chips, throwing them into cake, or (of course) making them into pie.
