1. White Castle Was The First Hamburger Restaurant Chain In The United States
We're here to burst your bubble. McDonald's was, in fact, not the first fast food hamburger chain in America. 1921, it was White Castle that opened its first restaurant in Wichita, Kansas. Founded by Walter Anderson and Billy Ingram, White Castle introduced the concept of square hamburgers—or sliders, as we now call them—for 5 cents a piece. It remains a family-owned business to this day, and in a 2017 survey conducted by Restaurant Business Online, its famous burgers came in the number one spot as most craveable chain burger.
