4. McDonald's Hamburgers Were Originally Priced At 15 Cents
Before McDonald's became a hamburger-lover's paradise, it actually used to have a more BBQ-centric menu, offering menu items such as barbecued beef, ham or pork, tamales and chili, and ham and baked beans. But in 1948, the founders switched their focus to cheaper, simpler fare: pure beef hamburgers, milkshakes, fries and soft drinks. The McDonald's hamburger cost just 15 cents! Today, a plain hamburger with ketchup and pickles costs $1. Still cheap, but comparatively speaking, it used to be a real bargain!
