PHOTO: this unusual breastfeeding technique impacted millions
Breastfeeding is definitely not easy for everybody... and there a range of reasons that feeding the traditional way does not always work. So when Rebecca McKeever noticed that her newborn daughter Andromea had trouble latching on, she came up with a different way to feed: with the help of a syringe.
A few gulps of milk from the syringe appeared to be enough to wake up her daughter, who was then able to fully latch on and feed traditionally. After a couple of weeks of mixed syringe and breast feeding, Andromea is now exclusively breastfeeding.
After publishing the photo in Instagram, Rebecca received reactions and responses from thousands of mothers who congratulated and thanked her, and sharee their own experiences.
Rebecca had plenty of words of encouragement for other new mothers: "Even if breastfeeding doesn't work for someone, to know that there are other women out there who have been through the same thing, and gotten through it, can be so encouraging and helpful! Don't be afraid to ask for help!"
