How To Make MELONCELLO, the Perfect Cocktail for Summer
This Italian melon cocktail is about to become your new favorite summer drink.
Ingredients:
1/2 melon (cantaloupe)
12 fl. oz. of alcohol (Everclear, or vodka)
1 1/2 cups of sugar
1 teaspoon of vanilla essence
5 fl. oz. of cream
8 1/2 fl. oz. of milk
Method:
Carefully wash the melon and cut it in half. Remove the seeds, then cut the fruit into cubes. Transfer it to a bowl, drench it completely with alcohol, seal the bowl with cling film, and refrigerate.
Let the pieces of melon soak for about a week, stirring them occasionally. After a week, filter the liquid and put it aside.
Blend the fruit cubes until they have a sort of creamy texture. In a pot, add the milk, sugar, cream, and vanilla and bring the mixture to a boil. After a few minutes of stirring, the sugar should dissolve completely.
Pour the mixture into a bowl, then add the melon, using a colander and the alcohol previously set aside.
Filter everything into a second bowl and let it rest for another 2 hours, then filter everything into a bottle to store. The meloncello can be enjoyed after at least a week.
Best when shared with friends. Enjoy! ;)
