Healthy Autumn Foods

1. Pumpkin

Despite its full, sweet taste, pumpkin is a helpful food for those who want to lose weight. It's also suitable for people with diabetes, thanks to its very low sugar and fat content. What it "lacks" in sugar and fat it replaces with high percentages of fiber, vitamins, and minerals.

2. Cabbage

Cabbage is packed full of nutrients: potassium, calcium, phosphorus, iron, folic acid, vitamin C. They also contain active ingredients that combat against bacteria and inflammation and they're full of antioxidants. Even more, they're purifying and promote healthy tissue regeneration.

3. Brussels Sprouts

These vegetables are rich in mineral salts (iron, copper, calcium, potassium, manganese, and phosphorus), in addition to protein and carbohydrates. They are linked to cancer prevention due to their high amounts of antioxidants (thiocyanate, zeaxanthin, indole, isothiocyanate, and sulforaphane). They're also a rich source of vitamins, such as vitamin A (healthy for the skin and mucous membrane), vitamin B, vitamin C (to protect the body from infections), and vitamin K (useful for bone health and in limiting neuronal damage in Alzheimer's cases).

4. Pomegranate

This "superfruit" is full of essential micronutients for our body. It's rich in mineral salts, vitamins A, C, E, and B5, and fiber. Good news if you enjoy pomegranate juice: it's excellent for your liver, and regular consumption helps eliminate toxins in your blood. Thanks to its high content of citric acid, potassium and water, it also help promote excess liquid elimination and healthy kidney functions.

5. Pear

Pears are rich in soluble and insoluble fiber, both of which are fundamental in our diet. This is because they accelerate intestinal functions and help prevent constipation, increase our sense of fullness, and reduce our absorption of simple sugars, fats, and cholesterol. They also help maintain and control blood sugar levels.
