Not keeping things separate

When grocery shopping, make sure you keep raw meat, poultry and seafood separate from ready-to-eat foods in your cart. The same goes for when you pack your groceries into bags at checkout; try and separate them according to type. And when you get home, try to place animal proteins on the bottom shelf of the fridge, to avoid any contamination issues related to leakage.
