Meat Casserole

Stewing food is a techique that has been used for centuries. Ancient civilizations, such as the Romans, Greeks and Persians, prepared stewed dishes in order to enhance flavors of meat.

There's even  several mentions of this particular culinary technique within the Bible, so we know the technique has been about for some time! Here are some examples:

1. In Genesis 25:29-34, the story of Esau and Jacob is told. Esau had sold his birthright to Jacob in return for a dish of lentils. Although stew is't specifically mentioned, it's implies that the lentils were then used in a stew.

2. In Exodus 16:3, when the Israelites were in the wilderness, they longed for meat and other foods. In response, God sent quail which some believe would've likely been eaten in a stew.

3. In 1 Samuel 2:13-15, Eli's sons were demaning meat from those brining sacrifices before the fat was offered to the Lord. Some say the meat was then used in a stew.
