Pear and Ginger Jam with Cinnamon

A great way to use up an abundance of fall pears, this jam is also flavored with a punch of fiery ginger. Perfect on toast or as a chutney with cheddar cheese and crackers.

Ingredients (for 4 jars):

  • 2 1/2 cups of pear (chopped)
  • 2 1/2 cups jam sugar
  • 1 cinnamon stalk
  • 1 1/2 lemons (juiced)
  • 1/4 cup fresh ginger (diced)

Instructions:

  1. Immediately mix the pear with the lemon juice, coarsely purée with an immersion blender. Once the ginger has been diced, add to the pear purée.
  2. In a pan, add the pear mixture and bring to a boil. Add the jam sugar and cinnamon stick. Stir constantly for 4 min. before removing the cinnamon stick.
  3. Transfer to sterile glass jars. Seal and refrigerate until ready to serve.
