Turning your stale croissants into croutons adds a flakey texture to your meals that you just can't get with croutons made from other breads. The buttery layers bring a rich and savory element to soups and salads making it an easy way to elevate your plates at home!
Ingredients:
2 large day-old croissants
2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp dried parsley
Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
Cut the croissants into bite-sized cubes or tear them into rough pieces.
In a mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, garlic powder, dried parsley, salt, and pepper. Stir until well combined.
Add the croissant pieces to the bowl with the seasoned butter mixture. Gently toss until the croissant pieces are evenly coated.
Spread the coated croissant pieces in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
Bake for 10-15 min. or until the croissant croutons are golden brown and crisp, flipping them halfway through.
Once the croissant croutons are golden and crisp, remove them from the oven and let them cool slightly on the baking sheet.
Use the croissant croutons immediately to top salads or soups, or allow them to cool completely before storing them in an airtight container for later use.
