Barbecue Cocktail Sausages

Miniature cocktail sausages are often one of the most popular dishes at a cookout. Not only are they the perfect appetizer to feed a crowd, but they're also easy to eat and even easier to prepare. They're best served hot, but we won’t judge if you eat the leftovers straight out of the fridge!

Ingredients (serves 6-8 people):

  • 2 packages (about 32 oz total) cocktail sausages
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey or brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Hot sauce (optional)
  • Toothpicks, for serving

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the barbecue sauce, honey or brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  3. If you like your barbecue cocktail sausages spicy, you can add a few dashes of hot sauce to the mixture as well.
  4. Add the cocktail wieners to the bowl with the BBQ sauce mixture.
  5. Toss the wieners until they are evenly coated with the sauce.
  6. Transfer the coated cocktail wieners to a baking dish or oven-safe skillet.
  7. Arrange them in a single layer to ensure even cooking.
  8. Bake for 25-30 min., stirring occasionally, or until the sausages are heated through and the sauce is thickened and caramelized.
  9. Once they are cooked, remove them from the oven and transfer the sausages to a serving bowl, and provide toothpicks for grazing.
  10. Serve hot for the perfect bite-sized appetizer! Enjoy!
