Cinnamon Baked Apples

Baked apples are simple yet irresistible autumn dessert, with the Dutch oven ensuring that the apples bake evenly and become wonderfully tender and caramelized. This comforting treat serves about 4 people and is perfect when served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Ingredients (for 4 servings):

  • 4 large apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 2 tbsp butter, cut into small pieces
  • 1/4 cup water

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  2. In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg until evenly coated.
  3. Transfer the apples to a 6-quart Dutch oven. Dot the top with small pieces of butter and pour the water around the apples.
