Spicy Arrabbiata

Spicy arrabbiata is a robust, fiery tomato sauce made with garlic, tomatoes, and red pepper flakes for an extra kick. This simple yet flavorful sauce pairs perfectly with pasta or can be used as a topping for pizza or roasted vegetables.

Ingredients (for 4 servings):

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
  • 1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tbsp fresh basil, chopped (optional)

Instructions:

  1. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes, cooking for 1-2 min. until fragrant, but not browned.
  2. Pour in the crushed tomatoes, salt, pepper, and oregano. Stir to combine.
  3. Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for 15-20 min., stirring occasionally, until it thickens slightly.
  4. Stir in the fresh basil (if using) and adjust seasoning as needed. Serve over your favorite pasta or use as a spicy base for pizza.
