The nutty flavor of browned butter paired with fragrant, crispy sage leaves creates a rich and aromatic sauce that’s perfect for tossing with pillowy gnocchi or delicate ravioli. Ingredients (for 4 servings):

  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • 12 fresh sage leaves
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice (optional)

Instructions:

  1. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Continue to cook, swirling the pan occasionally, until the butter begins to turn golden brown and develops a nutty aroma, about 4-5 min.
  2. Add the fresh sage leaves to the skillet and cook for 1-2 min. until they become crispy and aromatic.
  3. Remove the skillet from heat and stir in the salt, pepper, and lemon juice (if using).
  4. Drizzle the sauce over cooked gnocchi or ravioli. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and enjoy the deep, comforting flavors.
