Ingredients (serves 12-16):
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 ½ cups light brown sugar, packed
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- ½ tsp. salt
- 1 cup chocolate chips or chopped nuts (optional)
Instructions:
- In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter and cook until it becomes golden brown with a nutty aroma (about 4-5 min.). Stir frequently to prevent burning. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the brown sugar with the browned butter, stirring until smooth. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, whisking until well incorporated.
- Sift in the flour, baking powder, and salt. Fold the mixture until just combined. If desired, stir in chocolate chips or nuts for added texture.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8x8-inch baking pan with parchment paper. Pour the batter into the pan and spread it evenly.
- Bake for 25-30 min., or until the edges are golden and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the blondies cool in the pan before cutting into squares.
