A layered twist on Taco Bell’s iconic Crunchwrap Supreme, this family-style casserole captured hearts with its bold flavors and easy assembly. The fusion of convenience and creativity made it a hit at dinner tables nationwide.
Ingredients (for 6-8 servings):
1 lb ground beef
1 packet taco seasoning
½ cup water
1 can (16 oz) refried beans
1 cup sour cream
2 cups shredded Mexican blend cheese
4 large flour tortillas
4 crunchy tostada shells
1 cup diced tomatoes
1 cup shredded lettuce
1 cup salsa
¼ cup chopped cilantro (optional)
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish lightly.
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned, breaking it into crumbles. Drain excess fat. Stir in taco seasoning and water, simmering for 3-4 min. until thickened.
In a bowl, mix the refried beans with sour cream until smooth.
Place one flour tortilla at the bottom of the dish. Spread ? of the refried bean mixture, followed by ? of the seasoned beef, a tostada shell, and ½ cup of shredded cheese. Repeat layers twice more, finishing with a flour tortilla and a sprinkle of cheese on top.
Cover the dish with foil and bake for 20 min. Remove foil and bake an additional 5-7 min. until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Let the casserole cool for 5 min. Garnish with diced tomatoes, shredded lettuce, salsa, and cilantro if desired.
Slice into squares and serve with additional sour cream or guacamole on the side.
