Ingredients (for 6 roses):
2 red apples
1 sheet puff pastry (refrigerated)
3 tbsp apricot preserves or jam
1 tbsp water
Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 375°F. Grease a muffin tin or line it with muffin liners.
Core the apples and slice them thinly. You can leave the skin on for a prettier appearance.
Place the apple slices in a microwave-safe bowl with water and microwave them for about 3 minutes until they are soft and pliable. Alternatively, you can simmer them in a saucepan with water for a few minutes.
Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface and cut it into 6 equal strips.
In a small bowl, mix the apricot preserves with 1 tablespoon of water and microwave for a few seconds to make it easier to spread.
Spread a thin layer of the apricot mixture on each puff pastry strip.
Lay the apple slices along the top half of each strip, overlapping slightly and extending beyond the edge of the pastry.
Fold the bottom half of the pastry strip up over the apple slices.
Starting from one end, gently roll the pastry strip to form a rose shape.
Place each rolled rose into a compartment of the muffin tin.
Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-35 minutes, until the pastry is golden brown and fully cooked.
Let the apple roses cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar before serving.
