Oysters

Oysters always make for a fancy appetizer, no matter the occasion. Not to mention, they're quite the aphrodisiac, so consider whipping them out for your next romantic rendezvous at home. Be sure to choose quality oysters from a reputable source, and keep them stored as cold as possible. Use an oyster knife to shuck them with a glove or towel in hand for protection, and try to shuck the oysters as close to serving time as possible. You can serve with seasonings, such as parsley, fennel or thyme and spices, including ginger, star anise and chili pepper. However, avoid serving them with overbearing sauces. When eaten raw, they're meant to be consumed for their own flavor. A drizzle of lemon juice, however, can't hurt.
