10 Cookie Mistakes You Should Never Make

Putting Too Much Faith in Your Oven

If you set two ovens to 350°F, you would think they would heat up to the same temperature. A degree is a degree, right? Unfortunately...wrong. It sounds crazy, but standard oven temperature displays can be shockingly inaccurate, varying sometimes up to 20°F! This is why you can mix up all the right ingredients, follow the baking instructions to a tee, and set your oven temp perfectly — yet still sometimes end up with underdone or burnt results. To evade this disaster, invest in an oven thermometer. They're easy to find online or in specialty stores, are super affordable, and could save your next batch of cookies!
