The Vietnamese banh mi sandwich has achieved worldwide popularity, having popped up as a cheap and easy on-the-go meal in major cities everywhere. Being delicious helps, too. The sandwich consists of a French baguette (due to French influence from its colonialism in Indochina) split and topped with thinly sliced jalapeno, fresh cilantro and mint leaves, thinly sliced pickled cucumber, pickled carrot and daikon radish, thinly sliced roast pork, country liver pâté, mayonnaise and sometimes a drizzle of Sriracha, if you like the heat.
