McAfrika
Do we really need to explain why this was such a terrible idea? Unfortunately, yes, as it was even worse than it seems. McDonald's released this sandwich in Norway in 2002, during a period of some of the most extreme famines ever seen in southern Africa (Norway is one of the richest countries in the world). The McAfrika was nothing other than a pita sandwich, stuffed with a beef patty, cheese, tomatoes and lettuce, and yet it caused such an uproar that McDonald's apologized though did not pull the item before its limited edition end date, instead allowing donation boxes and posters to be set up in its restaurants, for charities supporting famine relief in Africa. The multi-million dollar corporation didn't learn from its mistake, having re-released a similar burger, the "McAfrica," in 2008 to promote the Beijing Olympics, which as equally shunned.
