The Solution

In order to put a more "homemade" spin on cake mixes, General Mills decided to make the products less convenient. That means subtracting the egg, leaving us with a bit more work to do. Lo and behold, sales skyrocketed! Despite the added effort, the simple act of whipping an egg gave us the sense that the dessert came from the heart (and not from a box). And that's what makes Betty Crocker all the more delicious!
