2018: Bourdain Advocates #metoo movement, Among Other Causes

Although Bourdain's support of sexual assault victims wasn't directly related to his travel- and food-centric career, he began dating Italian actress Asia Argento in 2017 after filming the Rome episode of Parts Unknown  together. Argento was a prominent and key accuser in the Harvey Weinstein scandal that led to the worldwide #metoo movement shortly after. Bourdain was vehemently against the toxic culture surrounding women in all industries, while admitting he had not always been the best defense against it. Beyond his support for sexual assault victims, Bourdain was a voice in today's society that resonated with the world on all issues: immigration, politics, the refugee crisis, cultural differences. He was far more charitable than most people knew and used his fame to shed light on one very important fact: No matter what corner of the world we come from, our diverse cultures are beautiful and worth discovering. We may look like different materials, but we are all woven into the same fabric in the end.
