Melatonin & Weight Loss
The research team analyzed the effects of melatonin on obese, diabetic rats. They found that the hormone helps increase the body's amount of brown fat tissue (a.k.a. good, energy-burning fat), while reducing the amount of unhealthy visceral fat (usually found in the abdominal region). According to these findings, a diet containing melatonin, combined with a reduced calorie intake and regular exercise, can eventually lead to weight loss. Although you can consume melatonin through dietary supplements, there are plenty of natural sources of melatonin that you probably already eat every day!
