Lombardi's - New York, New York

Lombardi's was officially the first pizzeria to open in America in 1905. Owner Gennaro Lombardi received a license to operate the restaurant in what is now known as the Little Italy neighborhood of Manhattan, and the place has been buzzing ever since (minus a decade-long hiatus). Now it's his grandson Gennaro Lombardi III who's running the show, and New Yorkers and tourists alike are still obsessed with the restaurant's delicious pizzas, baked in a coal oven just like the original. Don't go there with five bucks in your pocket expecting to get a slice—they only sell whole pizzas and don't accept debit or credit cards.
