Open Tables Doesn't Mean They're AVailable

Another host/hostess woe is getting aggressive comments from customers about the fact that there are open tables, and they're not seating anyone on the waitlist. Chances are those tables are reserved, and restaurants do everything they can to honor table bookings made in advance. They also might be waiting to seat an empty table because they're understaffed and don't want to overwhelm the servers or the kitchen. Don't go yelling at the host or hostess; it won't change anything, and it's not their fault you didn't reserve.
