Chef Boyardee

The real Chef Boyardee was born Ettore Boiardi in Italy in 1897. After immigrating to the U.S., he opened his first restaurant in Cleveland, Ohio, where his spaghetti sauce became so popular that he began bottling it up and selling it to his customers. He soon opened up a factory and Americanized his name to "Boyardee," while remaining true to his Italian roots. His canned pasta introduced the nation to Italian cuisine, and his plant even helped produce rations for the U.S. army during World War II.
