Chocolate Never Goes Bad

We might tell ourselves otherwise when we reach for that Halloween candy from a few years ago, but chocolate does actually go bad. Milk chocolate, for example, is really only good for about one year. Dark chocolate and baking chocolate fare a little better, tapping out after two years. In both cases, the important thing is that they are in stored in cool, dry areas during this time, otherwise the chocolate will "bloom" or separate. Once expired, chocolate will either taste rancid or have no flavor at all.
