Koulouri - Greece

These Sesame bread rings are popular across the Ottoman Empire and the Middle East (where they go by different names and are thought to have originated in Turkey). The Greek version, known as koulouri, is crunchy and chewy, almost like a cross between a skinny pretzel on the outside and a bagel on the inside. Served with both sweet and savory condiments, this is one of the most popular snacks in Greece and can be found on almost every street corner.
