To make the most out of your available space, use a Lazy Susan or similar rotating tray so that nothing is ever hidden back there, in the dark corner of pantry obscurity.  These are especially useful for small, fiddly items like spices, oils, dressings, or even medication, and are suited to both cupboard spaces and the fridge.
