Poutine - Canada

This Canadian dish is not for the faint of fat. In fact, most of the elements that make up the popular junk food are, well, mostly fat. A mound of double-fried French fries and squishy cheese curds are soaked in either a thin chicken gravy or sauce brune, a combination of chicken and beef stock. It's usually served in a large bowl and may include additional toppings, such as bacon, brisket, veggies or even foie gras. While it wasn't always a respected dish in Canada, it's now somewhat of a national treasure, one you can get at popular local Quebecois chain Chez Ashton or on the menu of a gourmet neo-bistro.
