10 tricks to save money on food and still eat like a king

Treat meat as an ingredient

Instead of planning your meal around meat, think of it as an ingredient. Prepare a meal that doesn’t feature meat but instead uses it along with several other ingredients and you’ll quickly see that you use much less meat. Whereas normally we tend to serve 6 – 7 ounces per portion when meat is the centerpiece, cooking a wok or sautéing meat with vegetables means you only need about 3 ounces per person. And that means you’ll be saving almost half of the money you used to spend.
