Kit Kat

These chocolate-covered wafers that typically come in two- or four- bar packages were introduced in 1935 by Rowntree's of York, United Kingdom, where they were sold in London and in the south of England. Originally named "Rowntree's Chocolate Crisp," it became "Kit Kat Chocolate Crisp" two years later, and the "break" marketing strategy came about at this time. After a brief repackaging and recipe change to dark chocolate during WWII, the product went back to its original red wrapper and milk chocolate flavor, while dropping the "Chocolate Crisp" from its name. Kit Kat was then exported to multiple other countries around the world and today, it's produced by in the US by H.B. Reese Candy Company, a division of The Hershey Company.
